WHAT IS EKOTECT
Ekotect is a newly established architect studio, founded in Prestwick, Scotland.
Led by Jamie Reid, Ekotect's work is driven by a contemporary, minimalist vision that sees Scotland building its way into a thriving future.
The studio sees architecture as a tool to enrich the lives of those that engage with it and we pride ourselves in being highly engaged with our clients from the first meeting through to project completion to achieve the best possible results and satisfaction.
We believe in offering meaningful design solutions that deeply consider the communities they will impact upon construction. This is reflected in creative designs that the studio produces which integrate seamlessly into the natural world around them. Ekotect offers architectural services in Ayrshire & Greenock.

WHAT WE DO

Ekotect specialises in contemporary, minimalist design for private commercial and domestic clients. Each new project starts with a free initial consultation, where we develop a brief by discussing your ideas for the site/property, budget and time-scales. This is accompanied by an analysis of the site and surrounding context to establish the project's feasibility. Ekotect will then provide a detailed fee quotation after the initial consultation for our services and, if the terms are acceptable, a formal appointment contract will be signed before design work begins.
Once you reach out to Ekotect, we ensure that your entire experience, from start to fruition, is fully collaborative and tailored to your specific needs. Using your specifications, and looking at the space’s potential as a blank canvas, we can explore design options together using sketches, scale drawings, 3D models and Virtual Reality. This makes your experience as personal and immersive as possible and lets you walk through the interiors and exteriors before a single tool has been lifted.
As modern architects based in Ayrshire, Ekotect are open-minded towards the projects we take on. Regardless of your location, whether it is in Ayrshire, or wider Scotland, Ekotect will work to accommodate your needs.
MODERN SELF BUILD HOMES
We offer a full range of services for clients looking to build bespoke one off houses. We can advise on site suitability, budget and design. Check out our case studies Home at Holmhead or Fisherton House to give you an idea of the contemporary self build homes we have been involved in.
HOME ALTERATIONS & EXTENSIONS
Most of our projects deal with home owners looking to improve or enlarge their property. . We can help alter, extend or convert your home to meet your needs and budget. We will also look to suggest alterative design solutions that may not have been considered. Check out our design for Wilson Avenue.
HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS
We have experience in the design and masterplanning of small scale housing developments and have a strong interest in co-housing projects. Take a look at our feasibility study for a small contemporary waffle housing development in Ayrshire, which maximises its site.
COMMERCIAL
Our experience extends to the design and alteration of contemporary kiosks, single shop retailers, takeaways, restaurants, cafes, bars and offices. Have a look at our concept design for a sculptural Origami Chippy.
CONVERSIONS
We have experience on converting rural farm buildings and listed churches into dwelling houses and flats. We've worked with clients to convert commercial properties into dwellings and alter houses for HMO's.
INTERIOR DESIGN
We also consider how the spaces will look and feel when designing a project. As an additional service we can assist clients on finding the finishes to their project by saving them time and hassle.

Our standard opening times are Monday to Friday | 09:00 - 17:00, however we do our best to accommodate a time that is convenient to you. Therefore, Ekotect are happy to arrange appointments at evenings and weekends to suit your schedule.
REMOTE DESIGN
At Ekotect we offer a remote design service, where we can provide you with the concept design for a bespoke house which is unique to your site.
