CATEGORY: RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: AYRSHIRE, UK

SIZE: 20M² INCREASE

STATUS: BUILT

The brief was to renovate and extend an existing bungalow house in Ayrshire. The house's existing conservatory was to be demolished and replaced with a sun room extension that the clients intend to use all year round.

This sun room was to be positioned on the southern elevation of the house with good garden access through large bi-fold doors. The footprint of the extension has been angled back to provide privacy from the west. The south and east elevation, which do not directly face neighbouring properties, have full height glazing, while half height windows have been positions on the west elevation.

The roof ’s overhang is intended to provide some shading and prevent overheating in summer

The south and east facing walls between full height glazing windows and doors are to be finished in a white k-rend render to match the existing house. The west elevation and soffit are cladded with anthracite fibre cement panels to match proposed aluminium
window and door frames and reflect the colour of the existing roof.
