The brief was to design a large contemporary four bedroom house in the village of Cumnock, East Ayrshire. The south facing steep sloping site offers fantastic views of the village and its surroundings.

 

Site access was to be created off Auchinleck Road to the south, with the driveway curving around the house to meet the north entrance elevation.

 

The steep sloping terrain has been a key aspect to the project, which has led to a split level design house. This decision was made to allow the house to be built two full stories high, while appearing to look much lower and respect the existing roofline of neighbouring properties to the north.

 

A neutral material colour palette of zinc, rustic sandstone and and timber cladding has been used to compliment the house’s contemporary design and break up its mass.

Works on site started in June 2020 and the estimated completion date is Winter 2021
