The brief was to alter and enlarge an existing detached house into a modern three bedroom property for a young family.

A large 1.5 story extension was to be added to the existing gable in addition to altering the internal layout of the house to suit the needs of the family.

 

The proposed design seeks to utilise an open space layout by minimising circulation space. Large openings are formed at the south elevation for good natural daylight into the living spaces. 

 

The extension was to be finished in render and a tiled roof to match the existing house. A feature balcony with a timber screen and aluminium railing was proposed to add a contemporary touch to the extension.
